We tried to make peace with him. We gamers that is. He sent a nasty letter to the head of Rockstar as a result... saying something like "How can you live with yourself when you cause murder" or something like that... don't exactly remember. He's lost all his cases to date. Is a serious threat to the entire entertainment industry. Was reading once. That if he won one case the entire entertainment industry would be in trouble. Eventually all of the entertainment would be destroyed by him. That's what a few analysts said about his crusade... I suppose... one could say... that he... is the Anti-Christ of the Entertainment industry... we follow him and we will fall under a rapture of sorts.

Did not know of Jack Thompson until this stamp, so who the Hell is this Dude. I then proceeded to read up on him.

I agree and disagree with him.

I agree with the research that violent entertainment (movies and games) does have an effect on children, youth and adults mind. Wait let me finish........chill.

I work with youth and I see the effects. It is the ones with low self esteem, poor social skill may or may have been bullied. That is the youth I am worried about. He/she plays the game and get relief pretending he/she is shooting to show off or to getting revenge. Then when the game wears off, then wants the real thing. I have seen a kid show off with a fake gun and went into a rage "next time it going to be real." He plays a lot of these videos but his peers ignore and degrade him.
Is it because of the games, no it because of the state of mind.
Like in the 70's, parents were saying that satanic messages were on heavy metal records when played backwards.
That is my opinion.

I actually have to agree with you there. I know someone with a social disability and is also addicted to video games. At first he was playing innocent games like Mario and Yoshi, but he's started to get into more violent games and that shows in real life. He's gotten into a few fights already, referencing the games he's playing while he does.

I will not directly deny that video games have an affect on children, but I will say that people like Jack Thompson blow things out of proportion.

For example, his lecture about video games (Flight Simulators) teaching terrorists all they need to know? That's crap. Flight Sim is in no way violent, or harmful to anyone. They could have gotten the very same knowledge from a technical manual.

In the same lecture about "Video Games Lead to Terrorism", he had a video playing of City of Heroes while talking about 9/11. CoH came out in 2004. Nice work, genius.

Thank you for the commentary, this is definately a subject that gets a lot of interest, especially from me (always interested in Human Psychology). But as a gamer, I have to hate Jack Thompson for his entire "ban all video games" campaign. And also because he sued Penny Arcade for making fun of him.
